"I have always been a big fan of fast action 8 weight rods, believing them to be the only way to get large nymphs out any reasonable distance. The ICT Seven weight is the first seven weight I have owned and I have found it to box well above its weight. The easy action butt section combined with a quick action tip allows all levels of angler to cast a good long line even with 4mm tungsten bombs. Before purchasing this rod, I wouldn’t have expected to cast across the Boulder Reach of the Mighty Tongariro River with a seven weight, but it is really a pleasure. The rod also copes well when fighting fish – I have pulled some quite large jacks out from under the blackberry on the Hinemaiaia River. This is a task that will test any rod and again it has done the job admirably.
